Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-10-17T00:12Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
Activity ID: 2024-10-17T00:12:00-CME-001 (version 2)
Note Keyword:
OFL: Outflowing material at the back of the CME
OVR: Event partially overlaps with another CME
Source Signature Keyword:
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
Morphology Keyword:
FS: Flux Rope and Shock Candidate
Note: Wide loop to the southwest with many consecutive fronts which overlaps with the far-sided halo 2024-10-16T23:12Z CME. The source is likely a faint slow opening field lines seen far beyond the SW limb in GOES SUVI 284 and in EUVI A 195, starting as early as 2024-10-16T22:50Z and lasting until about 2024-10-17T04:50Z. There is a faint opening of field lines and there appears to be a rising loop departing as well.

Event Type Catalog
Measurement TypeCME measurement type: Leading Edge (LE), Shock Front (SH), Right Hand Boundary (RHB), Left Hand Boundary (LHB), Black/White Boundary (BW), Prominence Core (COR), Disconnection Front (DIS), Trailing Edge (TE).
Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT 159.0 -24.0 421.0 S 43.0 2024-10-17T08:58Z Very approximate analysis based on a fit of the front in two coronagraphs, however there are multiple consecutive fronts seen in coronagraph. The source (very faint opening of field lines behind the limb in the southwest) indicates a source far behind the limb. There is a range of longitudes that gives a good fit with two coronagraphs. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
2: Result 2 (5.5 AU)
